When it comes to putting a camera through the wringer, most would opt for high-pressure water jets, brutal drops, or even the weight of a three-ton truck. However, these destructive measures typically spell doom for ordinary digital or smartphone cameras. But what if the camera in question is the TOUGHPIX DIGITHERM?
This week, we embarked on a daring experiment, pushing the limits of our brand-new thermal and digital imaging camera, the TOUGHPIX DIGITHERM. Our goal was to subject it to every conceivable hardship, fully confident that it would emerge unscathed. After all, why risk breaking our own camera if we didn't believe in its unparalleled durability?

Testing the Limits of Ingress Protection


With an impressive IP54 rating, certifying its ingress protection, the TOUGHPIX DIGITHERM was designed to withstand harsh conditions. We decided to put this certification to the ultimate test, exploring its capabilities and challenging the extent of its resilience.

Starting off cautiously, we bombarded the camera with high-pressure water jets, assessing how well it handled moisture. After shaking off the excess water, we nervously pressed the power button, only to find that it switched on flawlessly, functioning as if nothing had happened.

Encouraged by this initial success, we pondered on more extreme ways to challenge the camera's robustness. Having already confronted it with water, we opted for a significant drop from a height of three meters onto a concrete path. The outcome? The camera not only survived but showed minimal signs of wear. The aircraft's aluminum body, designed to endure, had indeed shielded it from harm.

The Ultimate Test: Under the Wheels of a Three-Ton Truck


Undeterred, we knew it was time for the most drastic measure – running the TOUGHPIX DIGITHERM over with a three-ton truck. The suspense was palpable as we carefully positioned the camera on the ground, watching anxiously as the truck approached.

As the truck completed its task, we gingerly retrieved the camera, fully expecting the worst. To our amazement, while the screen had suffered a crack, the camera defiantly powered on. A quick fix with a new screen in the factory, and it was as good as new.

The TOUGHPIX DIGITHERM not only survived being subjected to extreme conditions but demonstrated its resilience by withstanding the weight of a three-ton truck.
