Sensing Technology For Efficient Systems
Modern industries increasingly need accurate data to improve efficiency, safety and resource management. Sensirion addresses this need through environmental and flow sensing technologies designed for integration into connected products and systems. Its sensors measure parameters including humidity, temperature, CO₂, particulate matter, gases, pressure and liquid or gas flow. The company’s technology incorporates calibration, temperature compensation, digital processing and stored calibration data, helping manufacturers obtain consistent measurements without requiring extensive external compensation circuitry. This approach supports compact product designs while helping equipment manufacturers build more intelligent monitoring and control capabilities.
Automotive Hydrogen Sensing For Safety
Sensirion has introduced the STC42A Automotive H₂ Sensor, now globally available for automotive applications requiring reliable hydrogen concentration measurement. The sensor is designed specifically for early detection of battery thermal runaway in electric vehicles, as well as hydrogen-leakage monitoring.
It uses a thermal-conductivity measurement principle and Sensirion’s CMOSens® technology, combining sensing, signal processing and digital calibration in a compact device. The STC42A is AEC-Q100 Grade 2 qualified, supports an I²C interface and provides factory-calibrated hydrogen measurement from 0–40 vol%, with a typical response time of 1 second.
Refrigerant Leak Detection Solutions
Refrigerant leak detection is another important Sensirion application, particularly as HVAC and refrigeration manufacturers transition toward lower-global-warming-potential refrigerants. Sensirion has established technology for A2L refrigerant leakage detection and is also developing solutions for emerging A3 refrigerants.
Its sensors are designed to detect refrigerant concentrations and provide manufacturers with compact sensing options for modern heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment. The company reported that A2L leakage detection remained an important application while A3 technology continued developing during 2026. These solutions can benefit heat-pump manufacturers, air-conditioning OEMs, commercial refrigeration companies and other HVACR equipment manufacturers.
Advanced Sensors For Indoor Air
Sensirion’s indoor-air technologies can support HVAC equipment, air purifiers, smart-building systems, residential appliances and connected environmental monitors. Combining several sensing parameters allows equipment manufacturers to obtain more complete information about indoor conditions and use that information for ventilation, filtration and climate-control strategies.
These solutions are particularly relevant as buildings increasingly require energy-efficient operation without compromising indoor environmental quality. Sensirion’s current portfolio therefore connects environmental sensing with healthier indoor spaces and intelligent building management
Infrastructure Through Environmental Sensing
Sensirion is enabling smart infrastructure and IoT through high-precision, miniaturized environmental sensors that provide real-time information about indoor conditions. Its sensing technologies can monitor parameters such as temperature, humidity, CO₂ and other air-quality indicators, allowing connected devices and building systems to respond intelligently to changing environments.
By making environmental conditions measurable and actionable, Sensirion supports the development of healthier, more efficient and connected buildings. These technologies are particularly valuable for HVAC systems, demand-controlled ventilation, smart thermostats, air conditioners, indoor-air-quality monitors and connected home devices.
