The Honeywell Searchline Excel™ Edge is a long-range open-path infrared (IR) flammable hydrocarbon gas detector designed primarily for perimeter and fence-line monitoring. Unlike point gas detectors that monitor a single location, the Searchline Excel Edge uses a transmitter and receiver to continuously monitor a long optical path, helping detect gas clouds moving into or out of a protected area. It can cover distances from 60 to 330 meters (196 to 1,082 feet)

Get A QuoteThe detector is designed for harsh industrial environments and can detect a wide range of hydrocarbon gases, including methane, ethane, propane, butane, pentane, hexane, ethylene, and propylene. Its advanced optical design provides reliable detection even under challenging visibility conditions, while built-in diagnostics monitor factors such as alignment and window clarity. Honeywell specifies a T90 response time of less than 3 seconds.
Searchline Excel Edge provides 4–20 mA, HART®, Modbus, relay, and Bluetooth® communication options. Bluetooth connectivity allows commissioning, configuration, diagnostics, and maintenance from a compatible mobile device, helping reduce the need for direct access to the detector. A high-visibility multicolor LED HALO ring provides an immediate indication of instrument status.
