Allen Bradley Guardmaster 440N-S32015 Magnetic Non-Contact Safety Switch


The Sipha 440N-S32015 Magnetically Coded Non-Contact Switch by Allen Bradley Guardmaster provides superior monitoring for machine guards and enhanced protection for operators. This innovative technology uses several magnetically sensitive elements which must be activated in a precise order to operate correctly. Access to dangerous areas is prevented, as power to the motor is isolated when the safety barrier is released.


The Sipha sensor is expertly designed to operate with its own actuator, which ensures a higher level of security as it cannot be manipulated by a simple magnet. It is easy to install and versatile due to its moulded-in brackets and compact size. It has a sensor that must be connected to the Sipha control unit, which gives a monitored circuit. For high-risk applications the control unit is utilised with a single sensor to provide a high-integrity system. It has connecting facilities for a manual reset button and for monitoring external devices, such as contactors. This non-contact interlock switch is sealed to IP67 (NEMA 6P) which ensures that it is dust-tight and ideal for wet environments where machinery is regularly washed down. The 440N series is designed to have a high tolerance to guard door misalignment with its wide sensing field.

What are magnetically coded non-contact switches?


A magnetically coded non-contact switch is a device used for monitoring the position of machine safety barriers. They are typically used in industrial environments. It uses a magnetically-actuated reed contact and a specially-coded actuator. When the barrier is opened the contacts will either open or close due to the magnetic force interrupting the circuit. As there is no contact between the sensor and actuator they take less wear, are resistant to shocks and vibrations, and are highly tamper-proof, which gives them a long service life. They are often used for sliding, hinge, and removable gates.
