Allen Bradley PLC Cable For Use With MicroLogix Series, RS232 Output, 2m Cable - 1761-CBL-PM02


This Allen Bradley cable from Rockwell Automation provides connections for PLCs (programmable logic controllers) in the MicroLogix series. It offers reliable control capabilities and is easy to plug into a PLC processor using the 9-pin DTE (data terminal equipment) connector end. This then connects to an 8-pin AIC+ (advanced interface converter) communication port so the signal can be converted for transmission to another device. CAbles like this are commonly used to create a linked setup in factory automation, machine processing or with conveyors that need simple mechanical control.

This cable makes an extra-secure connection with a PLC due to the latched design on the 9-pin connector end. The connector fits snugly into place and is further protected by screw terminals that tighten the cable in place.

What is a PLC?


Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) are complex computers which automate control processes by using programs to communicate electronic signals to machines and devices. In simplified terms, they are usually comprised of three components: A CPU (Central Processing Unit), which is the brain or processor of the system, Inputs, and Outputs. An input module detects signals from things like switches, sensors, and buttons. This is processed by the CPU, which leads to an output relaying the CPU’s instructions to a machine or device. PLC system functions can be expanded by adding extra I/O modules.
