The STS Prepaid Water Meter (Split Type) is an advanced smart water metering system developed to support modern utility management and prepaid billing. The system consists of two main components: a high-accuracy multi-jet water meter and a separate Customer Interface Unit (CIU). The CIU is typically installed inside the user’s premises, while the meter is securely placed outside, minimizing the risk of tampering and unauthorized access.

This meter operates using the Standard Transfer Specification (STS) protocol, allowing users to recharge water credit through encrypted 20-digit tokens. The keypad interface enables users to input tokens, check remaining credit, and monitor usage data easily. Utilities benefit from improved revenue protection through features such as low credit alarms, overdraft management, and step tariff configuration.

The system also supports advanced communication options such as RF, LoRa, or Bluetooth for integration with AMI/AMR systems, enabling remote monitoring and management. Anti-tamper mechanisms, including magnetic detection and automatic valve shut-off, ensure system integrity and prevent water misuse.
